Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews made a new friend after gifting a souvenir puck to a young fan wearing his jersey Tuesday night.

Toews spotted a child with his No. 19 jersey before Chicago's game against the Boston Bruins and gave a quick tap on the glass to get the youngster's attention.

The Blackhawks forward flipped the puck over the glass and received a wave from the smiling kid.

Boston defeated the Blackhawks 6-3 to snap Chicago's seven-game winning streak. David Krejci, Danton Heinen and Brad Marchand each scored in a four-minute span during the first period.

The Blackhawks had goals from Duncan Keith, Alex DeBrincat and Erik Gustafsson. Patrick Kane had an assist in his 14th consecutive game, tying Stan Mikita for the franchise's longest assist streak.

Chicago hadn't lost since Jan. 17 before falling to the Bruins Tuesday night. The Blackhawks host the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.
