COL BKB: Duke 68, Kansas 61

LAHAINA, Hawaii, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Two 3-pointers from Tyler Thornton over the final 77 seconds Wednesday boosted No. 6 and unbeaten Duke to a dramatic 68-61 win over No. 14 Kansas.

The Blue Devils remained perfect in seven games and claimed the Maui Invitation title with wins over Tennessee, Michigan and the Jayhawks.

Long-range shooting determined the outcome, with Duke making 11 from 3-point range to just two for Kansas.

Thornton scored only seven points, but six of them came with the game on the line.

Elijah Johnson made a 3-pointer that put the Jayhawks in front 61-60 with 1:36 to play. Thornton, who had missed the only two field goal attempts he had taken to that point in the game, then put up a 3-pointer of his own with 1:17 left that gave Duke the lead again.

After Tyshawn Taylor turned the ball over for Kansas, Thornton beat the shot clock with another 3-pointer for a five-point lead.

Two free throws by Mason Plumlee finished off the scoring for the Blue Devils. Plumlee and Ryan Kelly both had 17 points and Austin Rivers had 10 for Duke.
