LAHAINA, Hawaii, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Elijah Johnson's 23 points led No. 14 Kansas to a 72-56 win over UCLA Tuesday in the Maui Invitational semifinals in Hawaii.
The Jayhawks (3-1) survived a late surge by the Bruins (1-3) to advance to Wednesday's championship game against Duke.
Thomas Robinson scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Kansas. Tyshawn Taylor picked up 13 points.
UCLA was led by Tyler Lamb, who scored 15 points, and Jerime Anderson with 14.
Kansas held a comfortable 43-26 lead at the half, but the Bruins came alive in the second half with a 12-0 run and then tightened the score further on Anderson's 3-point bucket that cut the Kansas lead to 57-52 with 8:08 to play.
The Jayhawks rallied and pulled away in the stretch. A layup by Travis Releford made it 66-56 with 2:57 to play and Kansas kept UCLA off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
