What to stream this weekend: 'Reminiscence,' 'WWE SummerSlam'

Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Hugh Jackman's new sci-fi thriller Reminiscence, WWE's SummerSlam and Season 2 of Octavia Spencer's Truth Be Told are streaming this weekend.

In addition, Stand Up to Cancer returns to raise funds for cancer treatments and research, The Walking Dead begins its 11th and final season and Paw Patrol presents a feature-length film.

Here's a rundown on some of the films and television shows that are set to be released this weekend.

Films

'Reminiscence' -- HBO Max

Hugh Jackman is a private investigator of the mind in new sci-fi thriller Reminiscence, on HBO Max and in theaters on Friday. Jackman falls into a deep mystery involving a new client portrayed by Rebecca Ferguson who changes his life. Thandiwe Newton, Daniel Wu and Cliff Curtis also star in the film, from writer, director and producer Lisa Joy.

'Paw Patrol: The Movie' -- Paramount+

The Paw Patrol must stop the villainous Humdinger who becomes the mayor of Adventure City in Paw Patrol: The Movie, which hits Paramount+ and theaters on Friday. Zuma (Shayle Simons), Rocky (Callum Shoniker), Sky (Lilly Bartlam), Chase (Iain Armitage), Marshall (Kingsley Marshall) and Rubble (Keegan Hedly) are present for the new adventure.

TV

'The Chair' -- Netflix

Sandra Oh is the new chair of the English department at the prestigious Pembroke University in new dramedy series The Chair, which premieres Friday on Netflix. Oh is the first woman to chair the department and will have to deal with a problematic professor and a dean ready to fire tenured professors. Jay Duplass, Holland Taylor, Bob Balaban, Nana Mensah, David Morse and Everly Carganilla also star.

'Truth Be Told' Season 2 -- Apple TV+

Octavia Spencer is back as a podcaster who solves crimes in Season 2 of Truth Be Told, which arrives Friday on Apple TV+. Spencer takes on a new case involving a media mogul who is her childhood friend, portrayed by Kate Hudson. The duo's friendship will be put to the test as new details come to light.

'Stand Up to Cancer' -- ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox

Sofia Vergara, Anthony Anderson, Ken Jeong and his wife, Tran Ho, will guest host the 2021 Stand Up to Cancer special, on Saturday at 8 p.m. EDT across ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth are executive producers of the fundraising special. Brittany Howard and Common with Stevie Wonder are set to perform.

WWE 'SummerSlam' -- Peacock, WWE Network

John Cena challenges Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WWE SummerSlam, which begins Saturday at 8 p.m. EDT on Peacock in the U.S. and on the WWE Network everywhere else. Other marquee matches include Bobby Lashley defending the WWE Championship against Hall of Famer Goldberg and Bianca Belair defending the SmackDown Women's Championship against Sasha Banks.

'The Walking Dead' Season 11 -- AMC

The Walking Dead will start its 11th and final season on Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC. The 24-episode final season will be broken up into three parts, with the second and third parts arriving in 2022. Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Khary Payton and Josh McDermitt will continue their fight for survival against zombies and humans alike.

'Chapelwaite' -- Epix

Adrien Brody moves his three children to his ancestral home inside the sleepy town of Preacher's Corners following the death of his wife in Chapelwaite, which airs Sunday at 10 p.m. EDT on Epix. Brody's residence is haunted with supernatural events taking place. The series is based on Stephen King's short story Jerusalem's Lot and also stars Emily Hampshire.
