People already buying 'Indiana' tickets

LOS ANGELES, May 8 (UPI) -- "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" doesn't open in U.S. theaters for two more weeks, but fans are already snatching up tickets, Fandango said.

The ticket broker said it is already seeing brisk advance ticket sales for the eagerly awaited fourth film in the Hollywood adventure franchise.

The latest installment is due in theaters May 22.

A Fandango poll of several thousand moviegoers suggested "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is this summer's most anticipated movie.

"There are few screen heroes who inspire this kind of long-term fan following," Ted Hong, vice president of marketing for Fandango, said in a statement Thursday. "It's been nearly 20 years since his 'Last Crusade,' so action fans have a pent-up desire to see Indiana Jones' adventures resume on the big screen. With our healthy advance ticket sales, we expect an exceptionally strong turnout on opening weekend."
