The Meat and Poultry Pathogen Reduction and Enforcement Act of 2003, also known as "Kevin's Law" would establish the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) legal authority to enforce food safety and sanitation standards for reducing pathogens in meat and poultry products. The law is named after Kevin Kowacyk of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin died of E. coli poisoning on August 11th, 2001 at the age of 2 years after a 12-day battle with deadly pathogen.
