WalletHub recently released its report of fun facts about the notorious Masters tournament. According to the report, 250,000 people visit the Augusta, Georgia area each year for tournament festivities. The average resale price for a ticket to the final round of the 2017 Masters is $1,366. It will set you back $4 to get a domestic brew at the tournament. There was a 620 percent increase in live telecast hours for the tournament from 1956 to 2016.
It costs $250 and takes one month to produce a signature green jacket for the Masters champion. Horton Smith's green jacket sold for $628,000 at a 2013 auction, while the auction price for an Augusta National member's jacket was $12,998 last year, according to the study.
The tournament tees off on April 6 at August National Golf Club. August National has 300 members and 61 magnolia trees dating back to the 1850s. The club has an initiation fee of $30,000 and $4,000 in annual dues, according to WalletHub. Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Condoleeza Rice, Darla Moore, and Ginni Rometty are members of the club. Golf Digest ranks Augusta National as the No. 2 golf course in the United States.
Want to attend the four-day tournament? Tickets for Thursday's opening round are going for $1,566 on average. Ticket sales generated more than an estimated $35 million in 2016, according to the study. But the menu at the club is a nicer bargain than the entry fee. Augusta National's signature Pimento cheese sandwich can still be had for $1.50.
Tiger Woods announced Friday he would not be taking part in the competition.
WalletHub reports the total purse for the tournament is $10 million, with the winner taking home a cool $1.8 million while the winning caddie gets to pocket 10 percent.
