BELLEFONTE, Pa., March 22 (UPI) -- An attorney for Jerry Sandusky asked a judge Thursday to dismiss all child sex-abuse charges against the former Penn State assistant football coach.

Sandusky is charged with 52 counts of felony and misdemeanor sexual offenses against children. He has denied those charges.

In a pretrial motion Thursday, attorney Joseph Amendola argued that some of the charges are "so general and non-specific" that a defense cannot be properly prepared. He said the statute of limitations may have run out in cases involving eight of the 12 alleged victims.

Sandusky's trial is scheduled to start May 14.
