MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Louisiana State is the unanimous No. 1 in the USA Today coaches' football poll with SEC rival Alabama, its regular season complete, sitting in the No. 2 spot.
LSU (12-0), one of two unbeaten teams -- the other is No. 6 Houston -- goes against No. 14 Georgia in the Southeastern Conference championship game Saturday.
The Tigers last week notched a 41-17 victory over No. 3 Arkansas, the eighth ranked team they have beaten this season. They also have wins over No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Oregon.
But should Georgia pull off the upset, Alabama (11-1) would likely take over the top spot in the poll. Alabama is five points short of having received all 59 second-place votes. The only loss for the Crimson Tide this season was to LSU, 9-6 in overtime.
