COL FB: Louisiana State 9, Alabama 6 (OT)

TUSCALOOSA, Ala., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Drew Alleman kicked a 25-yard field goal in overtime Saturday and top-ranked Louisiana State edged No. 2 Alabama 9-6 in a defensive struggle.

Alleman's kick decided the college football's first No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup in five years in favor of LSU (9-0, 6-0 SEC), giving the Tigers the inside track for the BCS national title race.

The Crimson Tide (8-1, 5-1 SEC) had the first possession of the overtime, but Cade Foster missed his third field goal try of the game -- a 52-yard attempt.

Foster finished 1-for-4 on field goal attempts while Jeremy Shelley went 1-of-2 for Alabama.
