COL FB: Texas A&M 55, Baylor 28

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Ryan Tannehill threw six of the game's nine touchdown passes Saturday in leading No. 23 Texas A&M to a 55-28 whipping of 24th-ranked Baylor.

Four of Tannehill's scoring throws went to Ryan Swope, who set a school record for most touchdown catches in one game.

Tannehill got the best of Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin, who came into the contest leading the nation in scoring passes and had three of them Saturday to boost his total to 22. Tannehill completed 25-of-37 passes for 416 yards while Griffin threw for 429 yards.

The first three touchdown passes by Tannehill came in the second period of 68 yards to Swope, 7 yards to Christine Michael and to Swope again for 8 yards.

After taking a 24-14 halftime lead, the Aggies built the advantage on Tannehill's connections of 5 and 68 yards to Swope. Tannehill finished off his big day with a 47-yarder to Uzoma Nwachukwu. The Texas A&M quarterback did not suffer a sack.

Texas A&M, which blew large leads in its two losses to Oklahoma State and Arkansas, improved to 4-2 and to 2-1 in the Big 12. Baylor is 4-2 and 1-2.

The teams combined for 1,165 total yards and averaged more than 7 yards per play.
