COL FB: Kansas State 41, Texas Tech 34

LUBBOCK, Texas, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Collin Klein ran for three touchdowns Saturday and No. 18 Kansas State intercepted three passes to stay unbeaten with a 41-34 win over Texas Tech.

The Wildcats gave up 461 yards through the air in a wild contest that was not decided until Texas Tech quarterback Seth Doege threw an incompletion on fourth down from the Kansas State 48-yard line with 1:40 to play.

Doege completed 43 of an astounding 63 passes, but he managed only one touchdown through the air and Texas Tech scored only two field goals in the second half.

Kansas State faced a 28-20 halftime deficit, but took the lead for good at 34-31 on Klein's 2-yard scoring run with a second remaining in the third period. Klein scored again on a 1-yard run midway through the fourth period to extend the Wildcats' lead to 10 points.

Donnie Carona brought the Red Raiders within reach when he kicked a field goal with 2:32 to play and Texas Tech then recovered the onside kickoff to briefly throw a scare into the Wildcats.

Kansas State (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) was outgained 569 yards to 341 and was penalized 20 times for 156 yards and still pulled out a victory. Texas Tech (4-2, 1-2) turned the ball over four times.

One of the interceptions Doege threw was returned 25 yards for a touchdown by Nigel Malone, the opening score of the contest.
