COL BKB: Syracuse 71, Pittsburgh 63

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Dion Waiters scored 16 points Monday and top-ranked Syracuse posted the best start to a season in school history with a 71-63 win over Pittsburgh.

Scoop Jardine had 12 points and 10 assists for the Orange, who improved to 20-0 (7-0 Big East), breaking the previous team record of 19-0 set in 1999-2000.

Brandon Triche and Kris Joseph each scored 12 points for Syracuse.

Cameron Wright, Ashton Gibbs and Lamar Patterson scored 10 points apiece for the Panthers (11-8, 0-6), who lost their seventh straight game.
