COL BKB: Syracuse 80, Tulane 61

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Dec. 22 (UPI) -- A 15-point effort off the bench by Dion Waiters and a key run at the end of the first half Thursday lifted No. 1 Syracuse to an 80-61 win over Tulane.

The Orange have won their first 13 games of the season and will embark on Big East Conference play next Wednesday when they host Seton Hall.

Syracuse had only a 22-19 lead with 7 minutes to go in the opening half but the Green Wave did not score another point before intermission. The Orange lead grew to 41-19 at the half.

Kris Joseph added 13 points for Syracuse, which hit 50 percent of its shots from the field and made 18-of-22 free throw attempts.

Kendall Timmons scored 16 points for Tulane, which made a mere 16 field goals for the entire game. The Green Wave slipped to 11-2, their only other loss having come Dec. 6 at Wofford.
