MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Florida State is No. 1 and Ohio State No. 2 in the USA Today's coaches' football poll, with Auburn third after its stunning win over Alabama, now fourth.
Auburn's last-second return of a field goal attempt for a touchdown that handed Alabama its first loss of the season knocked the Crimson Tide from the No. 1 spot they had held since the pre-season poll.
The victory put Auburn in the Southeastern Conference title game against Missouri -- two teams unranked at season's start.
Florida State (12-0) and Ohio State (12-0) head into their conferences' championship games with the bonus of a likely Bowl Championship Series title game also at stake.

The Seminoles, who play No. 20 Duke in the Atlantic Coast Conference final, grab 58 of first-place votes this week. It is the first time since the end of the 1999 season that Florida State is No. 1.
The Buckeyes, set to face No. 9 Michigan State for the Big Ten title, get the other four first-place mentions.
Auburn (11-1) moves to third, dropping Alabama (11-1) to fourth and Missouri (11-1) comes in fifth. If neither Auburn nor Missouri can displace Florida State or Ohio State, the Jan. 6 BCS title game would be the first since 2006 that the SEC wasn't represented in -- and won -- the game.
Oklahoma State (10-1) takes over the No. 6 place and Baylor (10-1) and South Carolina (10-2) tie for seventh. Michigan State (11-1) goes from 11th to No. 9 and Stanford (10-2) remains 10th.
Clemson (10-2) drops seven places to 11th, just ahead of Oregon (10-2), which is again 12th. Arizona State (10-2) climbs five spots to 13th with Louisiana State (9-3) in 14th and Oklahoma (9-2) taking over the No. 15 place.
Louisville (10-1) is again voted 16th with Central Florida (10-1) improving from 19th to No. 17. Northern Illinois (12-0) -- the other undefeated -- moves to 18th with a Mid-American Conference championship game against unranked Bowling Green ahead. UCLA (9-3), up three, is 19th and Duke (10-2), up four, is No. 20.
Wisconsin (9-3) sags seven places to 21st and Fresno State (10-1) falls nine to 22nd. Cincinnati (9-2) takes over the No. 23 spot and Texas (8-3) returns to the rankings at 24th. Texas A&M (8-4), off four, is No. 25.
Southern California drops out of the Top 25 this week.
In addition to Saturday's ACC, SEC and Big Ten conference championships, Stanford is at Arizona State for the Pac-12 title. The Big 12, without a conference title game, has Oklahoma visiting Oklahoma State and Texas playing at Baylor. Also, Louisville meets Cincinnati in an American Athletic Conference game between ranked teams.
