STANFORD, Calif., Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Tyler Gaffney rambled for 189 yards with a touchdown Saturday and 10th-ranked Stanford used a potent ground game to best Notre Dame 27-20.
Gaffney's career-best total came on 33 carries for the Cardinal (10-2), who outrushed Notre Dame 261-64.

Anthony Wilkerson added 34 yards with a score on five carries.
Stanford's defense also came up big as Wayne Lyons intercepted Notre Dame's Tommy Rees with 2:24 remaining to wrap up the decision.
Rees finished with 199 yards on 16-of-34 passing, logging two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Fighting Irish (8-4).
