STARKVILLE, Miss., Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Tyler Russell fired a trio of scoring strikes and 16th-ranked Mississippi State remained undefeated Saturday, humbling Middle Tennessee 45-3.
Russell connected on 17-of-21 passes for 191 yards, while Chris Smith made seven receptions for 66 yards with two scores as the Bulldogs (7-0) won their ninth straight dating back to last season.

The victory marked only second 7-0 start in the program's 113-year history.
LaDarius Perkins helped out with 125 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.
Middle Tennessee (4-3) was led by Logan Kilgore, who completed 16-for-25 passes for 159 yards with an interception.
Anthony Amos made six catches for 93 yards for the losers.
