EAST LANSING, Mich., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- An Isaiah Lewis interception return for a fourth-period score Saturday lifted No. 19 Michigan State to a surprising 28-14 win over 10th-ranked Michigan.

Michigan State overcame an early deficit and took a 21-7 lead when Kirk Cousins hooked up with Keshawn Martin on a pair of third-quarter touchdown passes of 10 and 13 yards.

Denard Robinson then brought Michigan back within seven points with his second touchdown throw of the game, a 34-yarder to Roy Roundtree.

Michigan was in position to tie the game when the Wolverines took over at their own 35 following a punt with 4:40 to play.

Lewis, however, picked off Robinson's pass on first down and ran it back 39 yards for the game-breaking touchdown.

Michigan State advanced to 5-1 for the year and to 2-0 in the Big Ten's Legends Division. The Spartans have the only unbeaten conference record in their division. Michigan fell to 6-1 and 2-1.

Robinson had averaged 308 total yards per game but was held to 123 passing yards and 43 on the ground. Edwin Baker led the Michigan State offense with 167 yards on 26 carries.
