LEXINGTON, Ky., Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Cypress Lakes, Texas point guard De'Aaron Fox used his smartphone Thursday on ESPNU to announce his decision to join the Kentucky Wildcats' basketball team.

Fox is the top point guard in the class of 2016 and No. 7 in the ESPN 100 recruiting rankings.

"It felt like a family there," Fox said on ESPNU. "When I went on my visit, every fan knew who I was. When I got off the airplane, people greeted me like I had been there my whole life. Getting to know the players and coach Cal; I felt like I had the best relationship, out of any coach that recruited me, with coach Cal. That's what set it apart."

Fox joins five-star forward Wenyen Gabriel and four-star forward Sacha Killeya-Jones in the Wildcats' class of 2016.

"Kentucky made me a priority from day one," the 6-foot-3 guard said. "I think that's what the difference was."

Kansas, Louisville and LSU were Fox's other top options.

Fox joins Derrick Rose, John Wall, Marquis Teague, Andrew Harrison and Jamal Murray as five-star point guards recruited by John Calipari since 2007. He also joins the group as the sixth point guard for Calipari ranked No. 1 nationally at his position.

Fox said he is working on reeling in top recruit Malik Monk to play alongside him in Lexington.

"Just one right now," Fox told ESPNU. "A guy who goes by the name of Malik Monk. "I'm trying to get him on board with me."
