COL BKB: Notre Dame 50, Connecticut 48

HARTFORD, Conn., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Jerian Grant provided 11 points, six assists and five rebounds Sunday and Notre Dame escaped with a 50-48 victory over 19th-ranked Connecticut.

The Fighting Irish (14-8, 6-3 Big East) were able to notch their third straight win only after Jeremy Lamb's shot off his own missed free throw came up short at the buzzer.

Eric Atkins scored a team-high 13 points while Scott Martin donated 10 and seven assists in Notre Dame's win, which came after victories over then-No. 1 Syracuse and Seton Hall last week.

UConn's Lamb (16 points) was fouled and made the first free throw with 2.3 seconds left, reducing the Huskies' deficit to two.

He missed the second shot but grabbed his own rebound in the lane, putting up an off-balance shot as time expired. It was off target, however, and Connecticut (14-6, 4-4) took the loss.

Andre Drummond netted 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Huskies.
