Washington Capitals RW Tom Wilson suspended four games for boarding

Washington Capitals right wing Tom Wilson was suspended four games without pay by the NHL for boarding St. Louis Blues left wing Sammy Blais during a preseason game in St. Louis on Sunday.

Wilson was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct for boarding Blais at 17:39 of the second period. He will forgo $97,560.96 in salary in accordance with the league's collective bargaining agreement.

The former No. 16 overall pick of the Capitals in 2012 scored a career-high-tying seven goals and had 12 assists for 19 points in 82 games last season.

Wilson has 21 goals and 48 assists for 69 points in his four NHL seasons.
