Vancouver Canucks acquire Derrick Pouliot from Pittsburgh Penguins

The Vancouver Canucks acquired Derrick Pouliot from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday in exchange for fellow defenseman Andrey Pedan and a fourth-round pick in the 2018 draft.

Pouliot did not record a point in 11 games with Pittsburgh last season. The 23-year-old has scored two goals and set up 12 others in 67 career contests since being selected by the Penguins with the eighth overall pick of the 2012 draft.

Pedan is signed to a two-way contract through the 2017-18 season, with an average annual value of $750,000 at the NHL level.

The 24-year-old Lithuanian collected five goals, five assists and 100 penalty minutes in 52 games last season with Utica of the American Hockey League.
