Dwyane Wade: Chicago Bulls SG put on blast for NBA Finals wardrobe

June 10 (UPI) -- Hot takes aplenty flooded Friday's Twitterverse regarding Dwyane Wade's outfit for Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

Wade sported a green sweat suit and rose-colored sunglasses, while watching his friend LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors 137-116.

He posed with ESPN's Stephen A. Smith and former teammate Shaquille O'Neal for an Instagram picture.

"7 rings and thee Mouth Piece of a champion! #nbafinals2017 @stephenasmith @shaq," Wade wrote in the photo caption.

Social media users were going at the fashionista for his clothing choice even before tip-off.

"Meanwhile my man @DwyaneWade out here like he got a pager store, a barbershop, and a Laundromat," ESPN's Jemel Hill tweeted. "Bro you styling!"

Wade retweeted that social interaction.

Earlier in the day, Wade tweeted out a photo of himself during the NBA Finals a few years back.

"The NBA Playoffs/Finals has seen some of my most memorable looks," Wade wrote on a photo of himself wearing a patterned black suit with short tapered black pants. "I had to make this one my #FBF #BestStyle #DwyaneWade."

Wade's wife, Gabrielle Union-Wade, even got in on the fun regarding his outfit.

"He also taught New Edition the 'If It Isn't Love' choreography #FunFact," she tweeted.

Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside took to Snapchat to comment on Wade's apparel.

"D-Wade look like he about to drop an album," he said. "D-Wade about to get that album out."

Other users compared Wade to Gucci Mane, said he lost a bet and wished he would play for the Chicago Bulls while wearing the same outfit. One user even suggested Wade could play the role of the villain in the 1975 TV series Starsky and Hutch.

Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving also had some fun with the veteran, who was courtside for the contest. After netting a 3-point shot, Irving looked over at Wade and said "I told you."

The 12-time All-Star and three-time NBA champ is also known for his off-court fashion endeavors. Wade teamed up with Amazon earlier this month to open a pop-up shop on the website. Customers can visit the website to purchase more than 100 men's items including collaborations with Mission activewear, Stance socks, The Tie Bar and his Way of Wade shoes.

"I'm excited, to say the least," Wade told Esquire. "Me and my team set out last year thinking, man, we do so many things with so many different partners. Wouldn't it be great if we had a store where we could keep everything, a place we could call home? We pitched the idea, and Amazon was excited. A year later, I have a pop-up store on Amazon. I'm excited about this and hope we have success with it, and can grow it."

Wade hosted his first fashion show fundraiser in 2012 in Miami. He hosted the fifth annual A Night on the RunWade in March at Revel Fulton Market in Chicago to raise funds to benefit the Wade's World Foundation.

"The Wade's World Foundation provides support to community-based organizations that promote education, health and social skills for children in at-risk situations," according to its official website. It helps children in Chicago, Milwaukee and South Florida.

The future basketball Hall of Famer makes about $12 million annually from his deal with Chinese shoe company Li Ning, according to Basketball Insiders. Wade recently came in at No. 19 on Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid athletes of 2017. He made $36.2 million this year, including his $23 million salary.

Wade and James were teammates on the Heat from 2010 through 2013. The duo teamed up to win back-to-back titles during the 2011 and 2012 NBA seasons. Wade, 35, has a $23.8 million player option for next season. He posted 18.3 points per game this season for the Bulls, his lowest mark since his rookie year.

After Friday's game, a Cavaliers fans yelled "we need you next year" at Wade, according to ESPN. James told ESPN in October that the Cavaliers didn't sign Wade as a free agent because the franchise "couldn't afford him."

"Who wouldn't be interested in a Hall of Famer?" Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue told ESPN. "That don't even make sense. Yeah, we wanted him."

Wade must decide by June 27 if he wants to return to the Bulls.

"I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together," James told Bleacher Report in 2016. "At least one, maybe one or two seasons -- me, Melo, D-Wade, CP -- we can get a year in. I would actually take a pay cut to do that."
