Golf fans with an insatiable appetite for the Open Championship can prepare to be served buffet-style by NBC Sports and Golf Channel.

The networks are teaming to offer 49.5 total hours of coverage of the 2016 Open Championship at the Old Course at Royal Troon in July.

The networks picked up the British Open from ESPN and will air the major in its entirety on Sunday. The USGA also signed a deal with FOX.

Comcast owns the networks airing the Open Championship and planned the aggressive package.

"We looked at a lot of different schedules and measurements. We get very scientific with how ratings work," said Mike McCarley, president of Golf for NBC Sports Group. "But ultimately, we came back to the fact this is a major championship, everyone qualified to be there and they all deserve to be on the air. That's been a philosophy of (NBC golf producer) Tommy Roy for a long time. We have the resources. We have the personnel. And we think it's the right thing to do for the fans."
