Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Alabama's Bo Scarbrough was accused of yelling an expletive, aimed at President Donald Trump, before the national championship.

But the junior running back says he was actually yelling "[expletive] Georgia," on Monday before the Crimson Tide battled the Bulldogs in Atlanta.

And it sounds like he is correct.

The entire Crimson Tide team was walking through the tunnel underneath Mercedes-Benz Stadium after pregame warmups when Scarbrough yelled the phrase. None of his teammates turned around to look at him after he screamed the expletive.

A reporter recorded a video of the sequence, claiming that the running back said "[expletive] Trump."

"If y'all really listen I said Georgia smh about y'all people in this world," Scarbrough wrote in response to a tweet from the Sporting News.

The news outlet later included his tweet, saying that he "claims" he yelled the reference at the Bulldogs.

Trump was in attendance for the pregame rendition of the national anthem, performed by the Zac Brown Band and a gospel choir. He left the field without saying anything to the fans after the performance.

Neither team was on the field for the rendition. President Trump watched the game from a private box, along with ROTC students. He left at halftime, according to multiple reports.

Last year, players and coaches from Alabama and Clemson were on the field for Little Big Town's rendition of the national anthem at the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
