"After deep prayer and consideration, my family and I have agreed I will declare for the 2017 NFL Draft," Adams said in a press conference. "The decision did not come easy. With the support of my family and LSU I have been able to grow into an athlete and a man that's prepared to take on this next chapter."

Adams recorded 76 tackles, one sack and one interception this season. He had five interceptions in his LSU career.

"Growing up and watching LSU football, he reminds me of what an LSU Tiger defensive player played like: tenacity, speed, will strike you, discipline, team leader," LSU coach Ed Orgeron said at the press conference. "I had a chance to really observe Jamal and watched him grow. Most of all I watched him grow to be a man we can all be proud of."
