CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Carlos Hyde ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns of 51 and yards Saturday to help third-ranked Ohio State put away Illinois 60-35.
Hyde's heroics came after Illinois (3-7, 0-6 Big Ten) pulled to within 47-35 on a 4-yard TD run by Josh Ferguson with 8:49 to play in the game.
Hyde finished the day with four rushing touchdowns and a TD pass from Braxton Miller. Miller threw for two scores and ran one in as well for the still-undefeated Buckeyes (10-0, 6-0).
Illinois' Nathan Scheelhaase was 33-of-50 for 288 yards with touchdown passes to Steve Hull and Evan Wilson. He also ran for a touchdown, and V'Angelo Bentley scored on a 67-yard punt return.
The Illini were shut out 21-0 in the first quarter but kept pace with the high-power Buckeyes the rest of the way.
