CLEMSON, S.C., Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Tajh Boyd threw for four touchdowns and ran for another Thursday in sending No. 6 Clemson to a 55-31 romp over Georgia Tech.

Clemson kept its hopes alive for a BCS bowl appearance, although the Tigers' chances for an Atlantic Coast Conference title were all but wiped out last month in a 51-14 loss to second-ranked Florida State.

The Tigers improved to 9-1 for the season and are 7-1 in the ACC's Atlantic Division, where Florida State holds down a 7-0 league mark.

Georgia Tech's loss further muddled the race for the Coastal Division crown. Virginia Tech, Duke and Miami all have two losses in that division while the Yellow Jackets fell to 5-3 in conference play and 6-4 overall.

Boyd completed 20-of-26 passes for 341 yards and one interception. He had second-period scoring throws of 41 yards to Sammy Watkins, 4 yards to Mike Williams and 76 yards to Martavis Bryant to give Clemson a 27-10 halftime led.

Watkins caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from Boyd in the third period after Boyd had run a yard for a score. Bryant finished with 174 receiving yards and Watkins had 104.

Boyd ran his passing touchdown total for the season to 24.

The Georgia Tech offense was led by 125 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Robert Godhigh.

There were 958 total yards produced in the game with Clemson accounting for 551 of them.
