MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Oregon drops five places in the USA Today coaches' football poll following the Ducks' first loss of the season, allowing Florida State to move to No. 2.
Thursday proved to be a pivotal night in college football, with Stanford again spoiling Oregon's try for a perfect season and Baylor extending its unbeaten record to 8-0 by beating Oklahoma.
Alabama (9-0) remains atop the poll, taking 58 first-place votes. The Crimson Tide were listed second on the other four ballots. The first-place mentions on those go to Florida State (9-0). Ohio State (9-0) returns from a bye week in third place. Baylor moves up to fourth.
There are two other undefeated teams but both are well down the rankings. Fresno State (9-0) comes in 14th this week and Northern Illinois (9-0) actually loses a place in the rankings to 21st.
