COL FB: So. California 42, Syracuse 29

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Matt Barkley fired six touchdown passes Saturday, tying his own school record, and No. 2 Southern California overcame a weather delay to pound Syracuse 42-29.

Barkley completed 23-of-30 passes for 187 yards with one interception for USC (2-0).

His favorite targets were Robert Woods and Marqise Lee, who teamed up for 21 catches for 159 yards and five TDs in a game that was halted for about an hour at halftime amid dangerous lightning and heavy rain.

Penn State transfer Silas Redd racked up 106 rushing yards on 15 carries.

Syracuse (0-2) dropped a seventh straight despite 319 passing yards and two touchdowns from Ryan Nassib.
