EUGENE, Ore., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Marcus Mariota played well in his debut behind center for No. 5 Oregon Saturday, firing three touchdown passes in the Ducks' 57-34 win over Arkansas State.
The freshman signal-caller, who won the starting quarterback job over sophomore Bryan Bennett, amassed 216 yards while pacing Oregon to a 50-3 second-quarter lead.

Bennett then took over, hurling a TD toss of his own en route to 107 yards with an interception.
De'Anthony Thomas made a pair of scoring grabs for the Ducks (1-0).
Arkansas State (0-1) was led by quarterback Ryan Aplin, who struck for 305 yards and three touchdowns. He was intercepted once.
