Accusers to speak at Sandusky prelim

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Dec. 12 (UPI) -- At least five alleged victims in the abuse scandal involving ex-Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky will speak at a preliminary hearing, a lawyer said.

Sandusky, former Nittany Lions defensive coordinator, will hear the five witnesses answer questions Tuesday in court about their allegations that he molested them, CBS News reported.

Also to testify at the hearing, CBS News said, will be Mike McQueary, who told a grand jury that, as a graduate student, he saw Sandusky sexually assaulting a young boy in a locker room shower on the Penn State campus in 2002.

Sandusky is facing charges he molested 10 boys, allegedly using a charity he founded to target victims. Some of the alleged abuse occurred on university grounds.

Sandusky's lawyer, Joe Amendola, said his client is "dreading" the court date.

"And I'm sure, you can imagine, he's going to have to sit in a court room with a couple hundred people -- I understand it's going to be filled to capacity, including members of his family, and friends -- who are going to listen to these young men say horrific things occurred between them and Jerry," Amendola said.

The Harrisburg (Pa.) Patriot News, quoting a source, raised doubts about whether McQueary may have related a different version in 2002 than the one he reportedly told the grand jury.

The newspaper said McQueary went to his father's home after the incident and a family friend, Dr. Jonathan Dranov, was present. The newspaper reported Dranov as saying McQueary said he heard "sex sounds," then saw a boy "stick his head around the corner" and "an adult arm reached around" and pulled the boy back.

The newspaper said Dranov told a grand jury he asked McQueary several times if he saw anything sexual, "and several times McQueary said 'no.'"
