COL FB: Louisiana State 42, Georgia 10

ATLANTA, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Tyrann Mathieu scored on a 62-yard punt return Saturday and top-ranked Louisiana State will play for the national title after routing No. 14 Georgia 42-10.

The win gave the undefeated Tigers (13-0) their 11th SEC title and first since 2007, when they went on to win the national title.

They now will play in the Jan. 9 BCS National Championship Game in New Orleans.

LSU had a rough first half and trailed 10-0 in the second quarter, but Mathieu's zigzagging, 62-yard return with 7 minutes left before halftime provided a spark and the Tigers went on to score the next 42 straight points.

Kenny Hillard's 15-yard TD run early in the third quarter gave the Tigers their first lead at 14-10 and Mathieu set up another Hillard TD run less than 3 minutes later with a 47-yard punt return.

SEC Western Division champion Georgia (10-3), meanwhile, saw its 10-game winning streak snapped.
