COL FB: Texas 37, Iowa State 14

AMES, Iowa, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- David Ash tossed two touchdown passes Saturday and No. 17 Texas cruised to a 37-14 victory over Iowa State in the Big 12 Conference opener for both schools.

Ash and Case McCoy teamed up to throw for 255 yards. Each went 7-of-12 passes through the air for the Longhorns (4-0, 1-0 Big 12).

Their favorite target was Jaxon Shipley, who made six grabs for 141 yards, while Josh Turner scored on a punt return in the Longhorns' one-sided victory.

The Cyclones (3-1, 0-1), meanwhile, suffered their first loss after winning three close games to start the season.

They were led by Steele Jantz, who threw for 251 yards and a score.
