COL FB: So. Carolina 56, East Carolina 37

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Quarterback Stephen Garcia entered in the second quarter and sparked No. 12 South Carolina to a 56-37 come-from-behind win over East Carolina.

The Gamecocks (1-0) trailed 17-0 in the second quarter when Garcia replaced starter Connor Shaw.

He went on to complete 7-of-15 passes for 110 yards and a score and also ran for two touchdowns, rallying South Carolina to a season-opening win.

Marcus Lattimore ran for 112 yards and three scores for the Gamecocks, who were behind 24-14 at the half but tallied three touchdowns in less than 2 minutes.

The Pirates (0-1) were led by Dominique Davis, who connected on 37-of-56 throws for 260 yards with four TDs and an interception.
