Police to question LSU players about brawl

BATON ROUGE, La., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Baton Rouge, La., police say they will be questioning four LSU football players this week about a bar fight that could result in criminal charges.

A police spokesman said the four, including senior quarterback Jordan Jefferson, were reportedly involved in the Friday night incident.

Details of the fracas were still unclear Sunday; however, The (Baton Rouge) Advocate said the players were identified by witnesses.

"It is still early in the investigation," Police Sgt. Donald Stone said.

Jefferson was told to meet with police Monday along with freshman wide receiver Jarvis Landry, sophomore offensive tackle Chris Davenport and sophomore linebacker Josh Johns, The Advocate said.

LSU Coach Les Miles issued a public apology for the incident Saturday.

The university had no immediate comment on any potential disciplinary actions. "When the facts of the incident become clear, we'll take appropriate action if needed," LSU spokesman Herb Vincent said.
