COL BKB: Wichita State 84, Evansville 68

EVANSVILLE, Ind., Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet combined for 44 points Sunday and second-ranked Wichita State improved to 27-0 with an 84-68 win over Evansville.

Baker provided 26 points and VanVleet had 18 with eight assists and five steals as the Shockers (27-0, 14-0 MVC) remained one of two unbeaten teams in the nation along with No. 1 Syracuse.

Cleanthony Early totaled 13 points and seven rebounds. Tekele Cotton chipped in 12 points for Wichita State, which next meets Loyola-Chicago Wednesday.

The Purple Aces (11-16, 4-10) were paced by Egidijus Mockevicius' 19 points and 10 rebounds.
