COL BKB: Michigan 94, Northwestern 66

EVANSTON, Ill., Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. combined to hit eight 3-point shots Thursday, sending No. 2 and unbeaten Michigan roaring past Northwestern 94-66.

In the opening Big Ten contest for both clubs, the Wolverines hit 13 long-range shots overall, made 59 percent of their field goal attempts and built a 21-point halftime lead.

Michigan improved to 14-0, while Northwestern dropped to 9-5.

Burke scored 23 points and Hardaway had 21. Jordan Morgan contributed 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Wolverines, who won the battle of the boards by 17.

The Wildcats have gone 3-5 since opening the season with a 6-0 record. Jared Swopshire and Kale Abrahanson both had 11 points for Northwestern.
