COL BKB: Mercer 70, Utah State 67

LOGAN, Utah, March 28 (UPI) -- Jakob Gollon put Mercer in front by three with 4 seconds left Wednesday and the Bears downed Utah State 70-67 to win the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.

Gollon scored the game's final points from the foul line and Brockeith Pane then missed a 3-point try for Utah State just before the buzzer to leave Mercer with a national title and a season record of 28-11.

The Bears finished as runner-up during the Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season race, but lost in the quarterfinals of the league tournament to Lipscomb. They defeated Tennessee State, Georgia State, Old Dominion and Fairfield to earn the championship meeting with Utah State.

Mercer's final three victories in the tournament came on the road. The Bears rallied from a six-point deficit with 4:30 to play after leading by as many as 10 early in the second period.

Travis Smith led Mercer with 17 points and Langston Hall had 16. Kyisean Reed had 15 points for the Aggies (21-16).
