COL BKB: Creighton 102, Illinois State 74

OMAHA, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Doug McDermott paced an excellent shooting show Wednesday that brought No. 12 Creighton a 102-74 victory over Illinois State.

The Bluejays won their 11th consecutive contest to maintain a one-game lead over Wichita State in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Creighton made 56 percent of its field goal tries, went 27-of-34 from the foul line and hit 13-of-25 from 3-point range. The Bluejays came within two points of equaling their season high in points.

McDermott, the league's scoring leader, had 25 points while hitting 9-of-11 from the field. Grant Gibbs added 12 points for Creighton (21-2, 11-1 MVC).

Tyler Brown scored 21 to lead Illinois State (14-9, 6-6), which lost its fourth straight.
