DES MOINES, Iowa, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- A 30-point effort by Doug McDermott Wednesday helped No. 14 Creighton hang on for its ninth straight win, a 77-69 victory over Drake.
Creighton made 6-of-8 from the foul line down the stretch to fight off the Bulldogs and maintain a share of the lead in the Missouri Valley Conference.
McDermott made 10-of-14 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds. Jahenns Manigat added 15 points, all of them coming from 3-point range.
Creighton (19-2, 9-1 MVC) hit 50 percent of its shots and grabbed 12 more rebounds than did Drake.
Wichita State is also at 9-1 in league play after picking up a win Wednesday against Evansville. Every other team in the league has at least five conference losses.
Drake (12-9, 5-5) was led by Rayvonte Rice with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
