COL BKB: St. Mary's 83, Gonzaga 62

MORAGA, Calif., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Matthew Dellavedova keyed a run late in the first half Thursday that sent St. Mary's to an 83-62 victory over No. 23 Gonzaga.

The Gaels won their sixth in a row since falling to unbeaten Baylor and took the lead over Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference.

St. Mary's scored the last eight points of the first half, six of them coming from Dellavedova, to take a 37-29 advantage at the break. The Gaels pulled away in the second half while making 50 percent of their shots.

Dellavedova made five of St. Mary's nine 3-pointers and finished with 26 points. Brad Waldow added 17 points and Stephen Holt had 13 for the Gaels (16-2, 5-0 WCC).

Gonzaga (13-3, 3-1) was led by 17 from Elias Harris. The Bulldogs hit 40 percent from the field.
