COL BKB: UNLV 89, Cal St. Bakersfield 57

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Oscar Bellfield keyed a game-breaking run to open the second half Thursday that sent No. 17 Nevada-Las Vegas to an 89-57 win over California State-Bakersfield.

The Rebels held an 11-point lead at halftime, then began the second period with a 16-2 rush that turned the game into a rout. Bellfield had seven of his 13 points during that stretch.

Justin Hawkins scored 17 points off the bench for UNLV (16-2), which has won seven in a row. The Rebels will not play again until Jan. 14, when they open their Mountain West Conference season at No. 25 San Diego State.

Zachary Lamb led the Roadrunners (7-0) with 16 points.
