COL BKB: Creighton 97, Northwestern 79

OMAHA, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Doug McDermott scored 27 points Thursday and sent Creighton on a late charge that gave the No. 21 Bluejays an 87-79 win over Northwestern.

The game was tied with 7:30 to play, but Jahenns Manigat and Ethan Wragge made consecutive 3-pointers to put Creighton in control.

The Bluejays made 12-of-21 attempts from 3-point range. McDermott made three of those long-range shots while hitting 10-of-14 overall from the field. Grant Gibbs had 12 assists.

Creighton improved to 10-1, beating a Big Ten team for the third time this season. The Bluejays also have victories over Nebraska and Iowa.

Northwestern (10-2) was led by Drew Crawford with 34 points. The Wildcats had won three in a row.
