JON BON JOVI: New Jersey rocker Jon Bon Jovi says his family will "get through" the "tragedy" of his daughter's recent heroin overdose.

Stephanie Bongiovi, 19, is recovering after the Nov. 14 incident at Hamilton College in upstate New York.

"This tragedy was something that I had to face, too, so we'll get through it. And people's warm wishes for my family and I have been really reassuring. So, we're good," the married father of four told TV's Fox 11, speaking publicly for the first time about the ordeal.


MICHAEL GAMBON: Actors Jude Law and Michael Gambon are to be honored at next month's British Independent Film Awards ceremony in London, organizers said.

Gambon is to be presented with The Richard Harris Award, while The Variety Award is to go to Law. Johanna von Fischer and Tessa Collinson, joint directors of the awards ceremony, made the announcement Tuesday.

Gambon joins a list of Harris award winners that includes John Hurt, Jim Broadbent, Daniel Day-Lewis, Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes.

Gambon played Dumbledore in the "Harry Potter" movie series, a role Harris originated before his death in 2002. His film credits include "Sleepy Hollow," Gosford Park" and "The King's Speech."

Law's film credits include "Hugo," "The Road To Perdition" and "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."

The 15th annual BIFA presentation is to take place Dec. 9.


CHEVY CHASE: Comic actor Chevy Chase is leaving the college-themed sitcom "Community," The Hollywood Reporter said.

Chase's departure is effective immediately and was done by mutual agreement with the NBC comedy's producers, the entertainment industry newspaper reported.

Chase, 69, is to appear in most of Season 4 of the series, which has already been taped and is to begin airing in February. However, it is unclear how Chase's departure will be handled within the show, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The former film star has been vocal about his unhappiness on the show.


MAYIM BIALIK: U.S. actress Mayim Bialik said in a blog post Wednesday she and her husband, Michael Stone, are divorcing after nine years.

Bialik broke the news on the parenting website Kveller.

"After much consideration and soul-searching, Michael and I have arrived at the decision to divorce due to 'Irreconcilable Differences,'" the actress wrote. "Divorce is terribly sad, painful and incomprehensible for children. It is not something we have decided lightly. ... We will be ok."

She and Stone are the parents of sons Miles, 7, and Frederick, 4.

The actress is best known for her roles on TV's "Blossom" and "The Big Bang Theory."
