WHITNEY HOUSTON: A private viewing for late pop star Whitney Houston was held Friday evening at Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, N.J.

Attending the wake were Houston's mother Cissy, her 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, and other family members and close friends, E! News reported.

An invitation-only funeral is to take place at noon Saturday at Newark's New Hope Baptist Church where Houston sang as a child and teen.

BeBe and CeCe Winans are set to sing at the service, which will be officiated by their brother Marvin, E! said. Also expected to perform are Stevie Wonder and Houston's godmother, Aretha Franklin. Clive Davis, Houston's mentor, and Kevin Costner, her co-star in the 1992 blockbuster "The Bodyguard," are slated to say a few words.

Among those confirmed to attend are Houston cousin Dionne Warwick, Forest Whitaker, Chaka Khan, Ray J, Kim Burrell, Rickey Minor, Alicia Keys and Bishop T.D. Jakes, E! said. Houston's ex-husband, singer Bobby Brown, also is expected to be at the church.

E! News said Oprah Winfrey was invited, but it was unclear whether she will make it. Elton John, Beyonce and Diana Ross will not be attending, however, contrary to rumors claiming they will be there, E! said.

UsMagazine.com said it confirmed an invitation had been extended to actor-director Mel Gibson by the singer's family out of appreciation for his attempts to help Houston with her addictions to drugs and alcohol. He will not, however, be at the service because of prior commitments.

Celebrity news Web site TMZ Friday posted the invitation to the church service that mourners received.

It showed a photo of a radiant Houston and said, "With heartfelt gratitude, the Houston Family requests the honor of your presence at the home going service for Whitney Elizabeth Houston."

Houston is to be buried Sunday alongside her father at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, N.J.

The 48-year-old music icon was found dead in her Beverly Hills, Calif., hotel room Feb. 11, on the eve of the Grammy Awards ceremony, which she was scheduled to attend. Officials said they are awaiting the results of toxicology tests before determining the cause of her death, but sources close to her family have said a combination of alcohol and prescription drugs are believed to be to blame.

ADELE: Adele is suing to block a French paparazzo from releasing on his blog a sex tape he claims features the British recording star.

The 23-year-old singer won six Grammy Awards this week.

Her publicist told the Daily Telegraph that claims she appears in a sex video, allegedly shot by an ex-boyfriend with a smartphone and now making the rounds, are "100 percent false."

Adele hired London law firm Schillings to bring legal action against photographer, Jean Claude Elfassi, as well as the French celebrity magazine Public, which published stills from the video under the headline, "Adele, the Sex Tape, her ex takes his revenge," the Telegraph said.

The newspaper said the clip was to be released on Elfassi's Web site Saturday, but the page Friday showed the message "temporarily disabled."

"Hurry up and steal or buy Public, they do not have enough printed and there are already shortages in newsagents," Elfassi said via Twitter.

ROBIN THICKE: Recording artist Robin Thicke has been arrested for alleged marijuana possession in New York, police said.

The 34-year-old son of actor Alan Thicke was arrested Friday afternoon near Manhattan's Madison Square Park after he allegedly lit up a joint in a car in front of police, TMZ reported.

The singer cooperated with police and was issued a desk appearance ticket. He has since been released from police custody, the celebrity news Web site said.

MATTHEW PERRY: Matthew Perry has been cast in a recurring role on Season 3 of the American legal drama "The Good Wife," CBS said Friday.

His first episode is to air March 25.

"Perry will play Mike, an extremely charming Chicago attorney tasked with heading up a blue-ribbon panel that's investigating a suspicious police shooting," the network said in a synopsis. "When Alicia [played by Julianna Margulies] is assigned to be on the panel, she begins to question the actions he is taking as the chairman."

Perry played Chandler Bing on the sitcom "Friends" for 10 seasons. His other small-screen credits include "The West Wing" and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip."
