Freddie Prinze Jr. joins '24' cast

LOS ANGELES, May 28 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Freddie Prinze Jr. has joined the cast of "24" for the popular TV drama's eighth season, entertainment industry sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

Prinze reportedly will play Davis Cole, a U.S. Marine who wants to follow in the footsteps of the show's hero, Jack Bauer, who is played by Kiefer Sutherland.

Other additions to the show in the upcoming season include actors Anil Kapoor, Chris Diamantopoulos and John Boyd.

Shooting on the new season began this week, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Prinze's film credits include "I Know What You Did Last Summer," "She's All That" and "Scooby-Doo." He also starred in the short-lived TV sit-com "Freddie" and had a recurring role on "Boston Legal."
