Two Louisville football players were shot Saturday night at a party at an off-campus apartment.

Louisville news station WDRB reported that junior linebacker James Hearns, who led the team with eight sacks this season, and sophomore linebacker Henry Famurewa were injured after being shot.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. A third person also was shot, according to the report.

Hearns' high school coach in Tallahassee, Fla., told the Tallahassee Democrat he had talked to his former player via Facetime on Sunday morning.

"He said he was at a (Louisville) track athlete's party and said some locals showed up, people who didn't even go to the school. The track kids were trying to get them out of there, and he said one of the bystanders started shooting," said Yusif Shakir. "He (Hearns) was running away. He said the guy started shooting into the crowd and got hit in the back of the elbow."

The third person shot, Shakir said, was a cheerleader. Hearns, he said, was doing fine but remained in a hospital.

According to various tweets, players were celebrating quarterback Lamar Jackson winning the Heisman Trophy Award when a fight broke out. Famurewa tried to break up the fight when someone fired a gun.

Famuwera, a sophomore backup, recorded two sacks and three tackles for loss this season.

Hearns also compiled 11 tackles for loss and forced five fumbles.
