Alabama on top, Florida State regains No. 2 in BCS poll

IRVING, Texas, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Alabama retained the top spot and Florida State bumped Oregon out of the No. 2 position in the Bowl Championship Series poll released Sunday.

Two-time defending BCS champion Alabama (8-0) held onto its usual spot atop the rankings with a .9797 mark following a bye week.

But the Seminoles (8-0, .9525), who fell from the No. 2 spot last week, regained the advantage over Oregon thanks to a 41-14 thrashing of Miami-Florida Saturday.

The Ducks (8-0, .9435), who also had a bye this week, slipped to No. 3.

Oregon may once again leapfrog Florida State if it can post a victory over sixth-ranked Stanford next weekend.

Ohio State maintained its No. 4 BCS position, followed by Stanford, Baylor, Clemson, Missouri, Auburn and Oklahoma.
