Notre Dame's ACC football schedule released

GREENSBORO, N.C., April 22 (UPI) -- Notre Dame and the Atlantic Coast Conference announced league football opponents for the Fighting Irish, who will join the ACC for all sports except football.

Notre Dame is moving to the ACC in most sports but remaining an independent in football. However, the agreement with the league states the Fighting Irish must play five ACC schools each football season while playing each conference member at least once every three seasons.

"The football partnership between the ACC and Notre Dame will not only enhance our league's already ambitious football schedules but also will provide terrific fan excitement," ACC Commissioner John Swofford said.

The ACC said conference teams Louisville, North Carolina and Wake Forest will play at Notre Dame in 2014 while the Fighting Irish will play at Florida State and Syracuse.

The home games in 2015 will be against Boston College and Georgia Tech while Notre Dame visits Clemson, Pittsburgh and Virginia.

In 2016, Notre Dame plays host to Duke, Miami (Fla.) and Virginia Tech while traveling to Georgia Tech and North Carolina State.

The dates of the games will be determined later.
